Job Description

Carbon Tracker is recruiting a candidate to help us deliver our busy events programme and make sure our work reaches decision-makers in the finance & climate sectors.

The Organisation: Carbon Tracker Initiative is an independent non-profit financial think-tank whose mission is to enable a climate secure global energy market by aligning the financial markets with climate reality.

“Carbon Tracker has changed the financial language of climate change.” (Guardian, 2014) - CTI won the Guardian Sustainable Business Award for Innovation in Communicating Sustainability in 2014 and 2015.

Joining our team is an exciting opportunity to work with a talented team of people dedicated to our mission. The role will be part of the Communications Team. As a member of the Carbon Tracker team you will be able to develop a range of skills and build your network in the finance, public, NGO and foundation sectors. Carbon Tracker has established a reputation for producing first class research on the energy transition and the fossil fuel sector, which we are aiming to promote to mainstream decision-makers in the capital markets.

Location: Based in London. Our offices are in the heart of the city, close to London Bridge.

You will be expected to/Key areas of responsibility:

Manage team speaking engagements in international public events, workshops, roundtables, press conferences

Be part of the Communications Team and work closely with other team members to develop our yearly calendar of events. You will be involved in all aspects of event planning - e.g. marketing, printing, booking venues, travel and accommodation, arranging sponsorships, providing on-site support, live-blogging, invoicing.

Coordinate with our external partners on major Carbon Tracker report launch events and sponsorships and support communications team during report launches
Prepare PowerPoint presentations and collateral marketing materials

Contribute content to our website and social media platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Mailchimp newsletter) and explore new avenues for publicising our work

Track event impact and produce evaluation reports

Manage and update contact databases (including our CRM system)

Handle report translations and think of ways to publicise them in relevant countries

Essential skills required:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Reliability and attention to detail, to plan and keep an accurate record of events and meetings
Ability to work in a team, as well as independently
Flexibility and time management, as the role requires alternating between internal admin duties and external public relations tasks
Interest or previous experience in the climate change, energy and finance sectors
Good knowledge of MS Office, WordPress
Experience in social media management

Additional skills which would be good to have:

Knowledge of video/photo editing
Foreign languages


This position will initially be for a six-month contracted position, with a view to renewal and/or the chance for a permanent position in the future. Salary £25,000 per year.
